Why Thea for 3dsMax?

Thea for 3dsMax incorporates all the capabilities of Thea Render inside 3D Studio and adopts an easy workflow for the user which makes the process of switching to the new render engine as easy as it can get.

All the functionality from Thea Render is fully integrated into 3dsmax through Thea for 3dsMax render plugin. All possibilities of Thea material system are here, while access to Thea Material editor is also available for user convenience. All lights types, render configuration settings, darkroom or render channels can be created or configured inside the host application.

All kinds of geometry are supported, including deformable meshes, geometric modifiers, renderable splines, compound objects or particle flow systems. Animation is also supported, as well as instances and external references. Render jobs can be sent through backburner without special considerations.

Fully integrated interactive render (IR) engine. Can be used as floating window or as an extended viewport. Any changes on materials, lights or cameras are reflected instantly on the IR viewport. Geometry changes and object creation and deletion are considered as well. The IR can be used to preview exposure, DOF or any tonemap settings applied from darkroom tab.

Thea for 3dsmax includes a proxy system to handle external Thea models. These models can be generated inside 3dsmax and used afterwards rendering easily high complexity scenes. The plugin also adds direct support for Forest Pack scatter system (by Itoosoft). A Thea Random Material has been included to add more variations on replicated objects. Several tools have been also included to improve the user experience and workflow, like a material converter, a light catalogue for Thea lights and a resource collector.

Why Thea for Blender?

Thea Render is an exceptional quality external rendering solution that is now integrated on Blender as tight as possible. Features such as interactive rendering, materials editing, instancing support make it possible to work inside Blender creating astonishing results with a smooth workflow between Blender and Thea Render. In addition, we have taken the decision to release the plugin under GPL (open source) that, we believe, fits the spirit of Blender development itself.

With the use of the interactive render mode you are able to preview the Blender scene, with its materials and lighting, interactively. You are able to see the rendered scene inside the 3D View or at the UV/Image Editor and see your changes being applied directly. Check out the video for more!

Add Thea materials to your Blender materials either from inside Blender or with the help of Thea Material lab pop-up window. Increase your scene realism by adding high quality materials with layers, displacement, light emittance and any other option that Thea Material Lab provides.

All clone objects in Blender made either with Alt+d command or by using object particles they will be exported to Thea as instances, allowing easier rendering of heavy geometry.

Find ready-to-use Render Presets inside Blender and make rendering mush easier by quickly overriding the settings. Select the preset you need for any Biased, Unbiased and GPU engine and then let Thea Darkroom do the rest.

Blender plugin is now released under GPL (open source license). In the archive that is downloaded you will find the Python source code that integrates Thea on Blender. We believe that the open source license of the plugin makes the integration as tight as possible and fits perfectly the spirit of Blender development itself.

Thea for Blender makes it possible for user to export the scene to Thea Standalone Studio and take advantage of additional staging tools. All your material, camera, environment and lighting settings made inside Blender will be then present in Thea Studio for further tweaking and full control over rendering.

Why Thea for Cinema4D?

Thea for Cinema4D is the perfect companion for Cinema4D users who want the highest quality photorealistic rendering inside their modeling application. The plugin offers a list of advanced tools while being actively developed to meet the most demanding visualization requirements.

While Thea Render supports interactive render region in Cinema4D, it goes one step further with its own integrated darkroom, reacting much faster to user workflow. Camera and material changes are optimized so as to give the best interactive experience.

Thea for Cinema4D offers a variety of ways to add Thea Materials to your scene. You can create a new Thea material and edit it inside Cinema4D or you can open Thea Material Lab for enhanced visually material editing. Our high quality material libraries are ready to use and just a drag-and-drop away from the content browser to your models.

Cinema4D offers various ways of instancing and we have paid attention to support them all, matching the native renderer. Whether you are using MoGraph cloners, arrays or render instances, the result will be always as it should be.

Thea Render can handle the animation rendering inside Cinema4D and render all the frames out-of-the-box. Furthermore, by supporting Team Render (R15 only), one can distribute these frames over the network for ultra fast animation sequence rendering. (Note: animation export and motion blur are currently not supported.)

With the automated texture baking, Thea Render is able to tackle all Cinema4D native shaders and execute with the highest performance, by preparing all necessary bitmaps in advance of the rendering process. This way, complete scene export as well as network rendering can also be used when native shaders are involved.

Thea for Cinema4D can be used along with several other Cinema4D plugins in order to make workflow much easier for the end user. One example is Laubwerk Plants Kits that allows 3D artists and architects to insert photorealistic tree models into their 3D scenes quickly and render them with Thea Render.

While the integrated plugin will suffice in most cases, it also comes bundled with our Thea Studio, a dedicated standalone application for Thea Render, perfect for further scene staging and material/lighting tweaking.

Thea for Fusion

Fusion 360 represents the continued commitment from Autodesk to evolve CAD/CAM software with dynamic tooling for parametric, solid and free-form design. Complementing the modelling aspect of Fusion and with the introduction of Thea Render v1.5, we are pleased to announce the immediate availability of our bridge plug-in for Autodesk Fusion 360 which enables cloud projects to be exported from Fusion into Thea Render Studio.

Using Thea for Fusion plug-in enables projects to be exported into our robust Studio staging tool for rendering enhancements. Thea Studio offers a multitude of features ranging from our production biased/unbiased/NVIDIA CUDA GPU renderer and a true physically based material system.

Thea for Rhino

Thea for Rhino integrated plugin takes full advantage of Thea Render functionality and allows you to create high quality photorealistic renders within Rhino 5. With advanced features such as interactive render, true physically-based materials, innovative material layering, IES and HDRI light support along with a versatile rendering system comprised of biased, unbiased and GPU engines, rendering within Rhino has become really powerful.

Thea for Rhino can be used for interactive rendering inside Rhino Viewports. Select the desired Viewport and simply let Thea Render engines give you an immediate visualization of your scene.

Fully integrated interactive render (IR) engine. Thea for Rhino comes with its own Darkroom window for optimized performance. Camera, Viewports, Lighting and material changes are seen interactively allowing fast visualization of any kind of scenes. You can actually build a whole scene while rendering. Region rendering is also supported.

Thea for Rhino offers a variety of ways to add Thea Materials to your scene. You can create a new Thea material and edit it inside Rhino with the use of Presets or you can open Thea Material Lab, for additional material editing.

With the use of the Material Browser you can select a ready to use material from Thea Library and simply apply it to your models.

Rhino native materials are fully supported.

Thea for Rhino has a full support of all native Rhino lights by converting them to the corresponding Thea ones: Omni, Spot and Area Lights.

Additionally, Rhino Sky can be used along with Thea IBL options: Add Image Based Lighting, Background, Reflection and Refraction Lighting maps.

Rhino Clipping Planes are fully supported by Thea for Rhino. Clipping planes can also be added/edited during interactive rendering allowing you to “look inside” your geometry.

Thea for Rhino supports the import of high quality Thea models. They are inserted inside Rhino as blocks reducing the memory footprint for multiple copies. There are already a few model libraries of render ready objects.

Thea for Rhino allows you to render various channels and use them later on for Post Processing purposes.

With Thea Render you can easily get Alpha, Shadow, Object ID, Reflection and many more channels of your Rhino scenes with the press of a button.

Thea for Rhino supports the following Rhino animations; Sun study and Camera animations. With the use of Rhino Native Render window you are able to use Thea Render engines and produce the needed frames for a sun or a camera animation.

While the integrated Thea for Rhino plugin will suffice in most cases, user is able to export the whole scene to Thea Studio: a dedicated standalone application for Thea Render, perfect for further scene staging and material/lighting tweaking supporting features like instancing and relight.

Why Thea for SketchUp

Thea for SketchUp is a combination of powerful rendering engines of Thea with the simplicity of SketchUp. Having biased, unbiased and interactive render modes including GPU support at your fingertips, inside SketchUp view, is a joyful experience. The plugin lets you enrich your models with highly detailed three dimensional content, breaking old limitations related to handled model complexity.

Thea for SketchUp allows you to run interactive render either inside Thea window or directly inside SketchUp view, a feature that we call Interactive Render Overlay. Additionally, with the use of Interactive Region Rendering a desired part of SketchUp view can be selected and being rendered providing ultra fast feedback for complex scenery. It is a valuable help in the workflow as it gives you an immediate visualization of geometry modifications, environment, depth of field, reflections, light distribution, material properties and external Thea models in a scene.

Thea for SketchUp provides a solution that overcomes limitations in terms of complexity of the final model. High quality external Thea models can be inserted as an empty wireframe box. In a rendered image, they will be translated into very detailed originals. This allows an easy population of your model with impressively looking trees, grass, cars and detailed furniture. There are already a few libraries of render ready objects.

Thea for SketchUp lets you benefit from full Thea Material Editor, which supports all kinds of layering, tone-mapping, displacement, light emittance and procedural textures. Additionally, Thea libraries can be found inside SketchUp Paint Bucket (in SketchUp Material format) and inside Content Browser for applying Thea materials easily and directly!"Convert Thea Material(s) to SKM" tool helps you convert your own libraries. Licensed users can download additional libraries, in both Thea format and SketchUp materials format. Moreover, you can choose one of the available Thea material presets (they also come with useful parameters that let you adjust their properties).

Thea for SketchUp makes it possible for user to export the scene to Thea Standalone Studio and take advantage of additional staging tools. Using the 64-bit Studio (currently available on Windows / Linux), one can render heavy scenery in very high resolutions without RAM limitation.

Why Thea for SketchUp?

Section Cuts are now supported in SketchUp 2014 (and newer versions). The Section Cuts allow you to cut through buildings and rooms leaving the interior lighting the same, as the external walls would be still in place.

Thea for SketchUp lets you render a model using a camera with spherical projection. The resulting image will be a panorama that can by viewed by an external program or a web application. It is especially valuable for presenting interiors to clients. It gives an excellent impression of a proposed solution.

Many SketchUp users posses exceptional post-processing skills. Thea for SketchUp allows rendering a model with multiple images containing separate channels, popularly called "passes". Those channels may include, for example, shadow, depth, direct light, transparency and reflection information. Combining them in an artistic way gives full control over the final image and lets you create otherwise-hard-to-achieve effects.

Thea for SketchUp is able to render animation as it is visible in a SketchUp view. All animation plugins that show their output directly in SketchUp window, while a built-in scene animation is being played, are supported.

Colimo Integration

Thea Render comes with a killer feature: integration with Motiva Colimo application. Motiva COLIMO is a realtime post-production tool that allows the user to change materials instantly on pre-rendered images, taking into account physical accurate reflections, refractions and GI bleeding. What does this mean? It means that it is now possible to edit the materials in real time as a post-process.
