Sketchup creators Trimble are dedicated to transforming the planning, design, construction and operation of buildings through advanced, accessible, intuitive technologies.
SketchUp users are architects, designers, builders, makers and engineers. They are the people who shape the physical world. They are important, and they deserve great tools because great tools produce great work.
Great tools are ones you look forward to using. They do one thing (or maybe two) really, really well. They let you do what you want without having to figure out how. They help with hard or boring tasks so that you can focus on being creative, or productive, or both. And they are, in their own way, beautiful.
At SketchUp, we do our best to make great tools for drawing. For our users, drawing is thinking. They draw to explore ideas, to figure things out, to show other people what they mean. They draw because they love it, and because nothing great was ever built that didn’t start with a great drawing.
Just like components, section planes have names and symbols, making them easy to find, organize, and edit in Outliner. Now, it’s easy to access and manage sections whenever you need to.
Filled Section Cuts
Filled Section Cuts are now baked into SketchUp Pro. Select a color for your fills via the Styles dialogue and bake them into templates.
We improved performance for models that use section planes to hide large amounts of geometry. The more geometry you section off, the more you’ll benefit!
Make Better Drawings
Scaled Vector Drawing
Need to add linework that’s not in your model? Create a scaled drawing in LayOut and sketch over a 3D model to flesh out your project. Or draw details to scale from scratch.
Import a DWG into LayOut and find illustrations already scaled to paper size. Now SketchUp projects can live side by side with CAD linework and take advantage of DWG libraries everywhere.
Inferencing, chamfering and filleting, arcs, offset arrays, selections: LayOut is even better at everything you need to draw details or create beautiful illustrations at scale.
We’re introducing Advanced Attribute fields for a component’s Price, Size, URL, Type, Status, and Owner. So now it’s even easier to embed projects with useful information.
Generate Report now aggregates component data so you can do things like configure reports to sum parts and quantities for schedules and cutlists, or create detailed estimates by adding up prices by layer. It’s time to crunch model data!
BIM works best when information moves freely between applications. You can rely on IFC in SketchUp to transfer the attributes you assign and manipulate in projects.
SketchUp for Web
Think through ideas and pre-build projects with simple, fun 3D modeling.
Turn ideas into reality
Start modeling right away
Modeling in SketchUp for Web takes just three steps: 1. Open your favorite browser. 2. Launch SketchUp. 3. Get creative!
Model once, cut once
3D modeling is the ultimate form of measurement. With SketchUp you can pre-build projects in 3D before you head to the hardware store.
Create project references
SketchUp models are useful references for your project. Save important views and send them to a phone or tablet. Or, generate reference drawings to print or share with others.
Powered by the web
With SketchUp for Web, the canvas for your next idea is just a browser tab away. Our web-based modeler is a streamlined version of our desktop app that uses the same core technology. And, by saving projects to Trimble Connect, you’re always working on the most up-to-date version of a model; you can even look-up version history. SketchUp for Web also auto-saves, so in-progress modeling is recovered on those occasions you push your browser a bit too far.
